The plant is similar to ginger, except it has anti-inflamatory and pain relieving properties, exhibits antimicrobial activity, and has antifungal properties against pathogenic fungi. </p><p><strong>It is the main ingredient of the ointment.</strong> On the other hand Tiger Balm&apos;s primary ingredient is <a href="https://www.healthline.com/health/beauty-skin-care/petroleum-jelly">petroleum jelly</a>, which has none of these benefits (although it does keep the skin moisturized and help reduce rashes).
